From Monday 12 June to Friday 16 June 2023, a training session was held on the premises of the Burkina Faso Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene (MSHP), at the end of which nine people certified as "Expert Trainers" were made available to the MSHP to ensure the deployment of mHealth e-finance..
Since 2020, the Burkina Faso Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene (MSHP), in collaboration with the NGO Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), has been working to improve the financial management of first-level health facilities. This initiative was made possible by financial support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The aim is to strengthen governance in financial management processes by digitising financial management tools and building capacity.
As part of this initiative, the MSHP opted for TICANALYSE's mHealth e-finance financial intelligence platform, after an unsuccessful trial of the DHIS2 platform.
mHealth's e-finance module enables the digital management of health centres' financial management procedures. From entering transaction information to downloading monthly cash flow reports and consulting balances, this tool enables real-time monitoring of the financial situation of health centres and the quality of their management.
To guarantee the MSHP's autonomy in deploying mHealth e-finance, TICANALYSE was commissioned to train a pool of trainers who would in turn train end-users in care centres.
The objectives of the training for the nine expert trainers were to complete their knowledge of the tool, to learn about the usefulness and use of each module and, finally, to give them the skills to train the end users. It also enabled them to identify functional requirements to be added to mhealth and to assist users in resolving minor difficulties encountered in the field.
The training has made it possible to provide the ministry with qualified expert trainers, who are constituted as a community and are subject to a code of ethics. These experts are in constant contact with the TICANALYSE team to improve the platform's service through their recommendations from the field and to provide a quality training service to end users each time the ministry calls on them.
At the end of the training course, the experts joined the official mHealth Experts database and received their Expert Kit.
At the end of the training course, the experts joined the official mHealth Experts database and received their Expert Kit.
In the two weeks following their training, the experts will hold training sessions for the end users of the eight pilot health centres.
With these nine expert trainers, the MSHP can now ensure the successful and effective deployment of the mHealth e-finance financial intelligence platform in the pilot health centres, thereby guaranteeing better governance in the financial management processes of first-level health facilities.
